Sitting back in the dark

Contemplating my battle scars.

The ones that nobody sees

Hurt the deepest

But a smile covers with ease.

Life could be a tragedy.

Just wish sometimes

Time would freeze,

Even some days go backwards

To relive those memories.

A New Interactive Horror Series

A New Interactive Horror Series “Nightmares” is being unleashed.

Burbank, CA – A new interactive horror series is coming soon. “Nightmares” – An in-depth nightmare re-enactment series has launched on Kickstarter. Nightmares are one of the very few experiences that connects every living person on the planet. The series dives deep into the minds of people that have suffered from terrible nightmares and then, in a brand new format, various medical and mental health professionals attempt to explain the cause of these terrible experiences, segment by segment. If the medical professionals are stumped, paranormal investigators step in.

Nightmares is hosted by Kevin Grevioux (Underworld, IFrankenstein) while Lance Henriksen (Aliens, Pumkinhead, Terminator, etc.) introduces each episode. With a number of high profile horror talent attached, each segment will feature a notable contributor to the horror industry, appearing in re-enactments, hosting, and offering unique and masterful insight. Only way to find out who hosts what… is to watch…

The nightmares are re-enacted in true short horror film fashion, focusing on the creature or monster. Each episode is a full Nightmare that plays out similar to Tales from the Crypt or Tales from the Darkside with emphasis on bringing the audience new, original monsters. The show wraps up with over two dozen medical professionals and masters of their field, including but not limited to: Psychologists, Paranormal Researchers and Analysts, Psychics, sleep and dream research centers and their team of leading dream experts in North America, Reiki Masters and energy workers, Theologists, Historians, and Neurologists, Fear Enthusiasts, Therapists, and Biologists to chime in and develop theories to the explanations of the nightmare in an attempt to help the dreamer, or in our case… “The Victim”

But it gets better. When living in the world of Nightmares, medical experts may not be able to pinpoint the obvious source of the nightmare. If this happens, Nightmares has partnered with Hollywood Ghost Hunters, led by Kane Hodder (Jason VoorheesI, in Friday the 13th part VII, VIII, Jason Goes To Hell, etc), who will conduct a paranormal investigation in the area where the nightmare occurred, searching for answers.
The first Nightmare comes from a man that started having nightmares after working for Clive Barker’s Seraphim Films. Kane Hodder and his team performed a paranormal investigation… in Clive Barker’s house. A true life, character crosses over with a thick vat of paranormal dumped on it; Jason visits the happenings at the Hellraiser house. A hair-raising episode with some of the greatest horror icons immersed in the passion of the genre.

Speaking of Clive Barker, his art work serves as a backdrop for the series in season one. Nightmares has partnered with Century Guild and each episode will feature different pieces of artwork from the mind of a master of horror himself. The artistic back drop is expected to change from season to season.

The show’s creator and Executive Producer Jin Kelley said “In all the horror films I’ve seen and admired, it always came down to the monster, whatever it may be. If the monster wasn’t believable, then it pulls the viewer out of the story you’ve spent so much time building. You have to respect the fans and give them the best you possibly can. I believe the best way to keep that necessary fear factor intact is with creative practical effects.”

Attached to the show are a number of artists featured on highly popular SyFy show Face Off. Fan favorites and champions Rayce Bird, Logan Long, Cig Neutron, Drew Talbot, Keaghlan Ashley, Rashaad Santiago, Cat Paschen, Niko Gonzalez, George Schminky, Julian Bonfiglio, Wayne Anderson, Gage Munster, Jaime Leodones, Stevie Calabrese, George Troester, and J Anthony Kosar just to name a few. These SFX all-stars compile some of the incredibly talented artists that have come together to make monsters for Nightmares. This Dream Team of artists will rotate so the audience gets to see all of these champions build the monsters in an accompanying webseries available on the Nightmares website. Nightmares picked up Director of Photography David M. Brewer, who chilled audiences of Insidious and countless other horror films.

The show Nightmares is very interactive, appealing to a global audience. Viewers can submit their own personal nightmare and the show may elect to bring that nightmare to life, prompting our tag line:

“It’s Time To Face Your Demons…”

Each episode will produce new, original monsters. The audience are able to choose which one they want to see in a feature film… as well as which actors… even locations. The Nightmares Team have listened to their fellow the horror fans and are prepared to influence the shape and direction of interactive horror in the entertainment, and its audience forever.

“Nightmares connect every person on the planet. It’s not bound by languages, or ethnicity, or anything else. I also wanted to create something that the fans could actually get involved with on the development level. They can interact with the film making process. I got pretty tired of getting excited over a project that I grew up watching, only to see that the people that finally made it into a movie dropped the ball and disappointed millions of fans in the process. I say give the fans what they want. In order to do that you need a platform for them to easily communicate with you” – creator Jin Kelley

While the series itself has yet to look for a network to call home, they have already begun shooting various segments to drum up some buzz. So far Lisa Wilcox (Nightmare on Elm Street 4 & 5, Star Trek: The Next Generation), Chloe Dykstra (Heroes of Cosplay), Doug Jones (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth, Crimson Peak), Philip Friedman (Insidious), Nicholas King (Sinister), Douglas Tait (Freddy vs Jason, Teen Wolf) have been seen on the Nightmares set as well as a few endorsements from other soon to be announced horror icons.

A show like this has never been done before. It’s a show that is powered by fans, hosted by icons, explained by science, with monsters made by champions, all while keeping the fans actively engaged. And in true independent fashion, they have launched a Kickstarter campaign to finance the pilot episode of the series which can be viewed here.

God can’t save you all

The church doors opened and a red mist fell, nobody could hide their tears as blood began to flow, swallowing your God’s sacred ground.

The preacher man kneeled before me to pray, before I lifted his soul and his body burned. The congregation stood up and began to flee as the carousel song played and they held on to all the hope and faith they had left, thoughts of what could have been.

Then my guns rang out, bullets to their hearts, no where to run, nowhere to go. I was smiling forever as I watched them unable to breathe.

This time I like to share something about stencil and making of. Usually I first think what I’m able to do with stencil and what I will “Freehand” using sharpies.

When I started doing tats I was using just normal copy paper and Spirit master transfer paper…

Pretty soon from beginning I did realize that normal copy paper works on small pics and if there straight area in human body. Problems started to rise when tattooing tricky areas, paper was way too “hard” and I have to think something new and fresh. First idea was baking paper! Well that didn’t work at all… “To the paper store” Thank god there was person working who actually knew lots of things about those papers they were selling. After few choices the final one was called “silk paper” very cheap, flexible and so thin. “Perfect for my purpose”  was the first…

Twin rage

It was the early 1980s when Zoe and Neil met. Zoe was just seventeen and training to be a hairdresser, not that she was any good at it. Neil was nearly nineteen and not doing much with his life. It was love at first sight, they dated for a year and then they were engaged.

By this time Neil was working as a bricklayer, self-taught but doing well and Zoe was pregnant. The young couple were very happy with the news and began to plan for the newborn and wedding to follow. Seven months passed and all seemed well, they left the sex of the baby as a surprise and picked a couple of boys and girls names.

Then Zoe became sick so they rushed to the hospital and were quickly told that they may lose the baby. They both wept and pleaded with the doctors to help. The doctor suggested a cesarean section but there were still risks “I don’t care” pleaded Zoe “just do it”.  Neil stood quiet but shaking as they wheeled Zoe away.

Two hours later the doctor came to see Neil “Sir I’m sorry to tell you but your wife died due to complications”.
Neil screamed and fell to his knees “No No No” he sobbed.
The doctor touched him on the shoulder and said “sir the babies survived”.
“Babies?” Neil said with a confused look.
“Yes” replied the doctor “twin girls”.
“But the scans only showed one” bumbled Neil.
“We believe one was in front of the other so only one could be seen” explained the doctor.

Neil slowly got to his feet and asked to see the girls, both were small but beautiful. He stood over them and pointing to the girl on the left he said “you will be called Zoe after your mother” then looking to the second baby “and you, Zara as your mother chose”. Neil then went to see his wife laid lifeless and once again began to weep “how will I cope without you my love?” He cried and sat for an hour before being told he had to leave. Two days later Neil took his daughters home and settled them in. slowly showing them photos of their mother every day putting on a brave face.

PicsArt_1428242354470Beneath the surface Neil was crumbling, depression was starting to take hold. The girls wouldn’t stop crying, a constant battle and he began to blame them for the death of his wife. When the girls were nearly four Neil finally broke, grabbing Zoe and Zara shaking them violently he screamed “it’s your fault. You killed your mother!” The girls cried louder and louder, Neil threw them to the ground, lit a cigarette and began to burn each of them “now you can feel pain like I do” he grimaced. The girls screamed as their skin bubbled and bled a little. Each week Neil would take the girls into the bathroom and burn them slowly. After about two years the girls began to fight back “daddy you can’t hurt us any more” they whispered at him, which threw him into a rage “you fucking think so hey?” He then ran boiling hot water into the bath and made them stand in it, the girls once more began to wail in pain “stop your fucking crying” he shouted. He continued this for about a year, the girls didn’t go to school so no one noticed the scars on their bodies and their painful red feet.

Neil by now had become psychotic and grabbed the girls “I’m sick of the whining and tears you little bitches!” They stood in fear as he cut the skin from their backs – about three inches in length and one inch wide. “Daddy what are you doing? what did we do?” screamed the girls. “Shut it” Neil replied. After he’d cut the two pieces of skin from their backs he grabbed Zara and sewed the flaps of skin to her eyelids then grabbed Zoe and sewed the other end to hers “now you can share each others tears” laughing menacingly. The girls had to go everywhere with each other now they were sewn together and the pain was unbearable at times, but they had no more abuse from their father. Every night the girls cried but the tears stung as they filled the tunnel of skin connecting their faces. On the girls’ ninth birthday Neil locked them in the bathroom, went downstairs and began to drink heavily. “Nine years today those little bitches took you from me” he slurred at a photo of his wife Zoe, more and more he drank until he finally stumbled upstairs to bed.

The girls heard him and shouted “can we come out now daddy?” “No shut the fuck up” he mumbled. At around 2am Neil was woken by singing “what the?” he said trying to see, covering his eyes from the light that shone in through the door. The girls had managed to get out of the PicsArt_1428242288860bathroom and stood and the end of his bed. “You can’t hurt us any more you are weak you are a bore” they sang still facing each other. “Get out or else” he shouted. The girls slowly turned to face him, ripping the skin from their eyes, blood began to run down their cheeks and a booming voice came from their lungs “NOOOO! ” Neil shot back and sat up straight, the girls had black holes where their eyes used to be. Neil, shaking said  “no-no, I’m sorry. Forgive me.” “You’re going to die tonight we’re going to take your life” the girls sang and climbed onto the foot of the bed. Neil tried to scramble backwards getting nowhere. They grabbed him, pulled him down and sat on top of his chest. Neil froze as one of the girls, Zara, revealed a knife which she had stolen from the kitchen and began to carve at his skin. Zoe began to laugh hysterically, lunging forward biting at his face, the girls seemed possessed. Through the night they carried on cutting and biting until he laid dead in blood soaked sheets and light started to peep through the curtains as day broke. Slowly Zoe and Zara climbed down from the bed looked at each other and said “we’re safe now let’s go home to mummy.” The sisters picked up two belts from their fathers drawers and walked back to the bathroom, standing on a chair they wrapped them round the shower rail and stood side by side holding hands. “I love you” said Zoe to Zara “I love you too” replied Zara and then they both jumped hanging until they stopped breathing and twitching.

All the bodies were found two weeks later by a neighbour, after mail and milk had been piling up. The police ruled Neil had killed himself after hanging the girls. The truth of what happened behind those doors was never discovered.

Feeling like the earth swallowed me whole darkness overcome me.
Taken deep into my memories to see the shadows behind me,
No light comes, no air to fill my lungs, holding on to life,
Choking, choking, can’t last much longer.
The darkness fills my being and wins the struggle we had.
My soul taken down to hell and there’s no coming back.

Shadow Prayer

Howls in the night rattled against the windows and the cold evening wind made the curtains dance.

Dark figures play in the shadows creepily, not just by chance, I prayed to God for some ease of my pain and no answer have I got.

But could the devil have heard me instead? Asking for my blood on his hands, I sit and watch the shadows, in fear for my life.

Sitting shaking in my hands a shimmering knife, so cold, so tired, hard to stay awake reciting to myself: “my lord my soul to take”.

then darkness takes its hold and sleep wins this battle my wish for ease of this pain might just of been my last

‘Untitled Horror Film’ – Review.

So I’m a big fan of horror and love all kinds so when I was asked to review this film movie of course I said yes.

So what is untitled Horror Film (UHF)…Heidi Slater- A digital suicide note or a twisted manifesto video?

Untitled Horror film is a UK based movie and was shot in just 5 days.

Heidi Slater (Margot Mount) plays a woman determined to get her big break in journalism, as she attempts to try and prove that Tobiaz Danzig (psychic-medium) is a fake. When Tobiaz Danzig (Tom Charnock)leads Heidi and her crew into ‘Netherwood House’ Heidi and her team start to suffer from visual hallucinations.

Heidi starts wondering what’s really going on, ‘The Director’ wants to make something completely different and as fiction becomes blurred with actual events, Heidi succumbs to his hypnotic film making process.

As a viewer and a lover of anything Horror I found the beginning to be a bit chaotic when switching the camera between characters, leaving me slightly disorientated to where the story was going. I found it most interesting to watch how ‘The Director’ J.P used psychological methods to change Heidi’s mind set into carrying out the murder of Jeffery (Darren Harris).

Was Heidi really hypnotised or did she succumb to human nature of survival after reading the ‘rape scene’?

In my opinion ‘Untitled Horror Film’ was a great watch and successfully written, but ideally I would have liked to have seen Heidi do more murders under the influence of J.P. All in all Jean-Paul Bankes-Mercer has done a great job with this movie and I look forward to more of his work.

Director Statement:
Heidi Slater was a very difficult film to make; the production process took about three years. The edit was a nightmare and consisted of numerous final edits, re-shoots until finally, the subject matter (being so oppressive and dark) got a hold of me
*. I took time away from ‘The Film’ and worked for the BBC as a Unit Manager (change of scene but just as stressful and brilliant) only to return, re-think and re-edit…again.
